Notes from the Sport Committee Meeting
The British Eventing Sport Committee met on Wednesday 18th April 2007 at Stoneleigh Park.
• The Sport Committee expressed their sadness to learn of the tragedy at Sapey One Day Event and wished to extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Jo-Anne Williams.
• Apologies were received from Peter Durrant and the Sport Committee thanked Peter for all his hard work, support and commitment over the last ten years.
• The draft 2008 Affiliation Agreement was discussed and after legal advice and approval has been gained it will be sent to the BEOA for comments and feedback.
• It was confirmed that there will be a meeting at Badminton to discuss BE’s future television strategy and a proposal for 2008.
• The assessment of all Advanced and Intermediate courses is underway and will continue on a three year rolling plan.
• There was discussion on Rider Representatives at events and how best to ensure this system is effective and utilised by all levels of riders. It was agreed that the Rider Representative Scheme should be more widely publicised to ensure that that all riders are aware of its existence and to encourage them to make use of this facility. The Rider Representative Scheme is intended as an interface between the competitors and the BE officials in attendance. A paper is being produced for our next meeting
• The Sport Committee approves the Selection Committee proposal on strcuture and guidelines which will now be passed to the Board for ratification.
• Production of the BE internet entries system is complete and it was confirmed that this will go live the week beginning 23rd April 2007.
• A new long arena Novice dressage test was approved and as was production of a new test to replace Intermediate 136.
• The Committee discussed the WoofWear Exo Body Cage, it was agreed by the committee that it is vital that all medical services at events must be aware of the release mechanisms for this body protector should an incident occur that requires the removal of this body protector from the competitor.
• The next meeting was confirmed as Monday 21st May 2007.
